Savannah Guthrie is facing a deeply personal crisis as her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, has gone missing in Arizona. The “Today” show anchor, usually a fixture on the morning program, was notably absent from Monday’s episode, leaving Sheinelle Jones to co-host alongside Craig Melvin.
In a heartfelt statement shared on the show, Savannah expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from friends and fans. “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support,” she said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”
According to a spokesperson for the Guthrie family, this is officially classified as a missing persons case, and they are collaborating closely with local authorities. They urged anyone with information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900. The family appreciates the community’s concern during this troubling time.

Nancy was last seen at her residence in Catalina Foothills, located north of Tucson, around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. She was reported missing the following day, as confirmed by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have described her as a “vulnerable adult” in “not good physical health.”

The search for Nancy has taken a serious turn, with homicide detectives now involved—an unusual step for a missing persons case. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that a relative made a 911 call around noon on Sunday to report her disappearance. “We’ve pretty much thrown everything at this as we can,” Nanos remarked, expressing the urgency and concern surrounding the case. “This is very concerning to us.”

Nancy has been a beloved figure on “Today,” making numerous guest appearances since Savannah joined the show in 2011. Savannah’s absence from the program comes just after her return from a vocal cord surgery recovery, highlighting the emotional weight of her current situation.

As the search continues, the family remains hopeful for Nancy’s safe return. What will the next developments reveal in this unfolding story?
