Anonymous tip claimed Nancy Guthrie ‘grave’ found in Mexico — sparking massive search

In a chilling turn of events, a search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has intensified following an anonymous tip suggesting she may be buried in an unmarked grave near the Mexico border. The disturbing lead has propelled a dedicated group focused on locating missing individuals to launch a thorough investigation in the area.

Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, the leader of Buscando Corazones Nogales, confirmed that the tip was received on Wednesday. Guthrie, who is the mother of “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, was reportedly abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, over 70 miles from Nogales.

The group, which has previously uncovered 25 unmarked graves in the region, scoured the area indicated by the anonymous source. However, despite their efforts, the search yielded no results, as Ayala Ortiz shared with El Imparcial. Undeterred, the team plans to continue their quest for Guthrie and other missing persons in the vicinity.

The location, referred to as “Mariposa,” which translates to “butterfly,” is situated northwest of Nogales. The recent search extended deeper into the area than previous investigations, following the tip that suggested Guthrie’s remains might be located near a stream.

Ayala Ortiz recounted the details of the tip, stating, “We received an anonymous call telling us that the woman’s [Guthrie’s] remains were in the Mariposa area — in a grave over a stream.” This information has fueled the determination of the search teams, who are committed to uncovering the truth.

The operation also saw collaboration with the Sonora State Commission for the Search of Missing Persons, with local authorities providing security to ensure the safety of the volunteers involved in the search.
