Joseph Duggar had already stepped away from the public eye years before his March 2026 arrest, with fans now revisiting the timing of his disappearance from social media.
Joseph and his wife, Kendra Duggar, stopped posting to their family Instagram account in November 2021—the same month Joseph’s older brother, Josh Duggar, went on trial for child sexual abuse material offenses. After launching the account in 2019 and regularly sharing photos of their growing family, the couple’s final post celebrated daughter Addison’s birthday before the account fell silent.
Although Joseph publicly condemned Josh’s past misconduct during a 2015 episode of Counting On, he never commented on Josh’s 2021 conviction or prison sentence. The family briefly reappeared in a holiday video shared by sister Jessa Duggar in early 2026, just weeks before Joseph’s arrest.
Authorities allege the accusations against Joseph stem from a 2020 family vacation in Florida, where he is accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a 9-year-old girl. According to investigators, the alleged victim later disclosed the incidents during a forensic interview, leading to an investigation. Joseph was arrested in Arkansas in March 2026 and faces charges related to alleged lewd and lascivious conduct involving a child under 12. He has been held pending extradition to Florida.
The arrest has prompted widespread reactions from members of the Duggar family, with several siblings publicly expressing support for the alleged victim and condemning child abuse. Meanwhile, Joseph’s once-active social media accounts remain inactive as legal proceedings continue.
