Jana Duggar Breaks Silence on Brother Joseph Duggar’s Arrest: ‘This Came as a Shock’

Jana Duggar has spoken publicly for the first time about the criminal allegations facing her brother, Joseph Duggar, saying she was “heartbroken” and shocked by the news of his arrest.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the situation involving my brother, Joseph,” Jana wrote. “This news came as a shock to us, as we had no prior knowledge before it became public.”

The 36-year-old mother of one went on to emphasize that her primary concern is for the child at the center of the case. Calling the alleged incident “a grievous and unacceptable wrong,” Jana said she and her family are praying for the victim and hoping justice is served.

Jana, who is Joseph's older sister, said the alleged incident was "a grievous and unacceptable wrong." Joseph Duggar, 31, was arrested on March 18, 2026, following allegations that he molested a 9-year-old girl during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020. According to court documents, the alleged victim, now 14 years old, later reported the incident to authorities, leading to a criminal investigation.

After his arrest in Arkansas, Joseph was extradited to Florida, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving a child under the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious conduct by an adult. He was subsequently released on a $600,000 bond but remains subject to court-ordered restrictions, including a prohibition on unsupervised contact with minors.

The case has triggered a wave of reactions from members of the Duggar family. Jana joins several siblings who have publicly distanced themselves from the allegations and voiced support for the alleged victim.
