A major legal battle is brewing in the music world, and it involves one of the industry’s most iconic producers. Timbaland is facing a lawsuit from a DJ who claims he was unfairly booted from a major tour with Missy Elliott, and he believes family ties are to blame.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, DJ E Feezy says he was hired to spin for the Timbaland and Missy Elliott tour scheduled for July and August 2024. He was reportedly promised $4,000 per show, totaling $120,000 for the full run.
The DJ claims he went all in for the opportunity. He says he secured a work visa for the Canadian leg of the tour, paid legal fees, turned down other gigs, and even practiced the set list. But less than 30 days before the tour was set to kick off, he was allegedly let go.
E Feezy reportedly believes he was replaced by Timbaland’s son. He says a settlement was initially worked out, but Timbaland allegedly did not follow through. The DJ claims he suffered damages totaling $130,000, which includes lost wages and the visa expenses.
Timbaland has denied the allegations and is asking the court to dismiss the complaint. His legal team argues there was no enforceable deal on the terms described. The producer also filed a complaint against his former manager, claiming that person handled all the dealings with the DJ and should be held responsible if anyone is liable.
