Joseph and Kendra Duggar Discuss Selling Property as Mounting Legal Troubles Strain Finances

Joseph and Kendra Duggar were not only dealing with multiple criminal cases following their arrests—they were also privately worrying about how to keep their family financially stable. Newly revealed jail phone calls show the couple discussing ways to manage their money, including selling property and other assets if Joseph’s legal battle continues.

The conversations took place between March 22 and March 26 while Joseph was being held in an Arkansas jail after his arrest on child molestation charges in Florida. According to the recordings, the couple repeatedly talked about maintaining cash flow and making sure Kendra could continue supporting their four children while Joseph remained behind bars.

Joseph suggested several ways to raise money, including selling tools and taking advantage of potential tax savings. The pair also discussed their investment properties, with Joseph’s brother, Jed Duggar, reportedly stepping in to help manage one of their Airbnb rental homes while Joseph was in custody. They even considered preparing another property for rental income, though they acknowledged selling it later could become necessary if their financial situation worsened. At one point, they also discussed the possibility of using a home equity line of credit to finance future plans.

The financial concerns came as both Joseph and Kendra faced mounting legal problems. Joseph had been arrested on Florida charges accusing him of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12 and lewd and lascivious conduct by an adult. He has pleaded not guilty and was later released on a $600,000 bond.

Just two days after Joseph’s arrest, both he and Kendra were charged in Arkansas with four counts each of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment in a separate investigation. Kendra was arrested and later released after posting bond, while Joseph remained in custody before being extradited to Florida.

Other jail calls released during the investigation reveal the emotional toll the situation has taken on the family. In one conversation, Kendra told Joseph that although his relatives were disappointed by the allegations, they still loved him and hoped he would face the legal process with faith.

As part of his release conditions, Joseph was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with any minors while the criminal case proceeds. With multiple cases still pending and no trial date set, the Duggar family continues to face growing legal, financial, and personal challenges.
