North Carolina father arrested several times for assault, broke into ex’s home, fatally stabbed son, 5, then went to Taco Bell

In a 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 and tragic incident, a father from North Carolina has been arrested after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and fatally stabbing their 5-year-old son. The chilling events unfolded in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving the community in disbelief.

Jehaaz-Akil Khaliq Echoles, 31, now faces serious charges, including first-degree murder, as confirmed by the Pineville Police Department. Officers were dispatched just after midnight to the Sabal Point Apartments following reports of a violent assault.

Upon their arrival, authorities discovered the young boy suffering from multiple stab wounds. Immediate medical assistance was rendered, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital in a police vehicle. Tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly after reaching the hospital.

According to court documents, the child’s mother recounted the harrowing moments leading up to the attack. She reported that Echoles had forcibly entered the apartment, made his way into their son’s bedroom, and shut the door behind him. When she heard a disturbance, she opened the door only to find her son gravely injured, prompting her to call 911 for help.

Fortunately, the mother and another child present in the home were not harmed during the incident. Following the attack, Echoles was located and apprehended at a Taco Bell nearby, where he had reportedly fled.

Police have stated that this incident was domestic in nature, rather than a random act of violence. However, the motive behind this heartbreaking attack remains unclear.

Echoles has a documented history of assault, with previous convictions dating back to October 2020 for an assault on a woman. He is currently facing multiple assault-related charges, including two incidents this year involving alleged violence against women.

Currently, Echoles is being held without bond at the Mecklenburg County Jail, with his next court appearance set for July 30. As the community grapples with this tragedy, many are left wondering how such a horrific event could unfold. What could possibly drive a parent to such an unimaginable act?
