The tension inside Ferrari is reaching a boiling point, and now a Formula 1 legend is demanding a serious sit-down between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc before things spiral further out of control.
Juan Pablo Montoya, a seven-time Grand Prix winner, didn’t hold back when he weighed in on the 𝒹𝓇𝒶𝓂𝒶 that erupted at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The Ferrari teammates started the race with high hopes, lining up in third and fourth place, but their dreams of a home victory quickly turned into a nightmare.
At the first corner, Hamilton made a bold move, throwing his car up the inside of Leclerc. The two Ferraris touched wheels, and moments later, Hamilton found himself forced onto the gravel and kerb, losing multiple positions. The seven-time world champion was furious, blaming Leclerc for the incident, saying, “Charles pushed me off!”
Hamilton never fully recovered, finishing in sixth place, a major blow to his title hopes. Leclerc, meanwhile, ended his race early with a crash on lap two. Their post-race comments only added fuel to the fire, with Hamilton insisting, “I was in front, there’s no ‘we’ about it,” while Leclerc admitted, “we went too far.”
Montoya, speaking with BetBrothers, didn’t mince words. He argued that Hamilton played the role of a clean teammate, giving Leclerc space, while Leclerc allegedly ran him off the track. “Charles did what I would have done, but now the way the teams play, you can’t do that,” Montoya said.
The F1 legend went further, calling for urgent peace talks involving team principal Fred Vasseur and executive chairman John Elkann. “Ferrari has always been about individuals,” Montoya warned, “but every time they succeeded, it’s been a one-driver team.”
