“Bad news. Mr. Wilson has run away from the wedding. ”
The words hit Sarah like a wall.

She stood at the altar in her white dress, holding her bouquet, as the guests began to whisper. She had never even seen her groom, Caden Wilson—the CEO of Wilson Group—before that day. Their marriage had been arranged, and he had fled the country instead of marrying her. His grandmother, Grace, was furious.
But Sarah, stunned, simply said, “It’s okay. I won’t let it bother me. ”
Grace put a hand on her shoulder. “Nevertheless, you and Caden are legally married now.
Don’t worry. You’ll always be his wife. ”
Sarah forced a smile. Deep down, she knew she was now tied to a man who hadn’t even had the decency to say goodbye.
Three years passed. Sarah built her life as a successful lawyer, sharp and respected in her field. When a loud, aggressive client named Mr. Phillips sued her, claiming she had twisted the truth in his case, she defended herself brilliantly in court.
He lost and was escorted out, shouting that he would have her banned from the legal profession. “Mr. Phillips, you are testing a lawyer’s patience,” she warned calmly. “I can sue you for defamation and assault.
”
A man approached her afterward. He was tall, composed, and wore an expensive suit. “So, you’re a lawyer. Interested in a divorce case?
”
“Yes. Hi, I’m Sarah Smith. ”
He introduced himself as Alfred Brown, then gestured to his boss. “This is Caden Wilson, my boss.
He just came back from Europe. ”
Sarah’s heart skipped a beat. Caden Wilson—the same name as her husband. Could it be him?
But then Alfred added, “He’s the CEO of Glory Group. ”
Oh. Her husband was the CEO of Wilson Group, not Glory Group. She had been mistaken.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Wilson,” she said, shaking his hand. The meeting covered the divorce case. Sarah listened as Caden explained, “We’re not in love.
It was an arranged marriage. I never cared for her. I failed as a husband. ”
Sarah felt a twinge of sympathy for his wife.
“Despite that, she never asked for a divorce. She must have alternative motives,” she noted. “If she demands half of Caden’s property, that’s unacceptable,” Alfred added. “Honestly, I forgot her name,” Caden admitted when Sarah asked.
Sarah nearly laughed. Her husband could never have forgotten her name. This Caden Wilson couldn’t be the same man. That night, her phone rang.
“Hi, Sarah. Can you come home now, please? ” Grace’s voice sounded urgent. “Caden is back.
He wants to meet you. ”
Sarah’s blood ran cold. “Okay. I’m on my way.
”
She drove straight to Grace’s house, ignoring the knot in her stomach. When she arrived, Grace pulled her aside. “Sarah, Caden realized he didn’t get a gift for you today. He wants to meet you another time.
Please don’t hold it against him for leaving three years ago. ”
“I won’t, of course,” Sarah replied, though anger simmered beneath her calm words. But Grace wasn’t done. “There’s a charity banquet tomorrow.
Donate $500 million in the name of Caden’s wife. Caden has been committed to charity for years. Hopefully, this will leave a positive impression on him. ”
Sarah agreed, unable to refuse her grandmother-in-law.
The next evening, at the charity banquet, Sarah stepped out in a borrowed gown after spilling wine on her own dress. Caden Wilson was there too, and he offered her a ride home. “Miss Smith, I need you to come with me,” he said as they left. “Where to?
”
“I’ve set up a meeting with my wife. I can’t take it anymore. She’s been unfaithful. ”
Sarah froze.
“Unfaithful? ”
“Yes, we need to finalize this divorce as soon as possible. ”
At the café, Sarah met the woman who identified herself as Caden’s wife. She was beautiful, confident, and dripping with entitlement.
“Hi, are you Caden Wilson? I’m Sarah,” she introduced herself. The woman looked her up and down with barely concealed disdain. “Sarah?
The name fits. ”
Caden was direct. “Let’s get straight to it. We should divorce.
”
“And what if I tell you I don’t want a divorce? ” the woman countered. “A loveless marriage is a burden on both of us. I’ll make sure you get the compensation.
”
“What are you going to offer me? ”
“20 million. ”
The woman laughed. “20 million won’t cut it.
”
Caden’s jaw tightened. “How much do you want then? ”
“I haven’t figured it out yet. ”
The meeting ended in frustration.
Caden stormed off, muttering about his wife’s audacity. Sarah, however, noticed something familiar about the woman. That selfishness, that greed—it reminded her of someone. The next day, Sarah went to the office and was greeted by an unexpected sight: her boss, Sam, was being openly flirted with by Serafina—Sarah’s own husband’s mistress, if you could even call him her husband.
Serafina was Sarah’s so-called best friend. “Enjoying your time at the office, I see,” Sarah said coldly. “Serafina, you’re married. Is this how you uphold your vows?
”
“And what of it? ” Serafina shrugged. “I’m entitled to my choices. ”
“Fine.
Make your choices, but sign these divorce papers first. Then live as you please. ”
“Sorry, but I’m not getting divorced. ”
Sarah pressed, “You’re dead set on not divorcing, huh?
Is it about the money? Name your price. ”
“Half of Caden’s assets. Otherwise, we don’t have a deal.
”
Sarah’s patience snapped. “You cheated on Mr. Wilson first, and you want half of his assets? That’ll never fly in court.
”
“Then I’ll see him in court. Caden is in the spotlight, and his divorce will get attention. I mean, sure, his stocks will drop, but I don’t care. ”
Sarah realized the truth with a sickening jolt.
Serafina was the one pretending to be Caden Wilson’s wife. That woman at the café was Serafina herself, wearing a wig and acting like a stranger. But before Sarah could expose her, Sam—loyal to Serafina—fired her from the law firm. “You’re being dismissed for enticing your client, which clearly breaks the lawyer code of ethics.
That’s more than enough grounds for termination. ”
Sarah stood there, stunned, as the full weight of the betrayal hit her. Her best friend had been scheming with her boss to steal her husband, her career, and her dignity. “I’ll make sure you regret this,” Serafina hissed.
But Sarah didn’t back down. She filed a complaint with the police, and Serafina was arrested at the law firm. The chaos that followed laid bare every dirty secret—Sam’s affair with Serafina, Sarah’s husband’s abandonment, and the web of lies that had strangled her life. Then Grace walked in, her voice sharp.
“Sarah, what are you doing here? ”
“We’re done here. I’m pulling my investment from your law firm. ”
Sam begged, “Could you please tell me why?
”
“Because you targeted my granddaughter-in-law for your own benefit. ”
“How could Sarah be your granddaughter-in-law? There must be some mistake. ”
“It’s not your place to speak about her.
”
Everyone in the room froze. Sarah stared at Grace, then at the man standing beside her—Caden Wilson. “Grandma,” Caden said, his face pale. “What’s happening?
My wife is Sarah? ”
Grace nodded. “That’s true. You two need to talk this out and clear up the confusion.
”
Sarah’s world tilted. The man she had hired as her lawyer, the one who had flirted with her and confessed feelings for her—he was her husband. “I’m sorry I mistook that woman as my wife,” Caden said quietly. “I mistook someone else for my husband,” Sarah replied, her voice shaking.
Caden stepped closer. “I never actually thought you’d be my husband,” Sarah murmured. “I never imagined you to be my wife. Three years ago, I made the biggest mistake in my life leaving you at that wedding.
From the bottom of my heart, will you marry me again? ”
Sarah’s eyes shimmered. “Can I ask you something first? ”
“Anything.
”
“When did you get this ring? ”
Caden looked down at the ring box in his hand. “I bought it the moment I knew I couldn’t live my life without you. And when I heard about your divorce.
”
Sarah laughed through her tears. “You big jerk. After all this time, after everything, I still find myself falling head over heels for you. ”
“So, will you say yes?
”
She smiled, feeling the warmth of his hand in hers. “Yes. A thousand times yes.
”
