Joseph & Kendra Duggar Could Be One Step Away From Having Their Child Endangerment Charges Completely Dismissed

Joseph and Kendra Duggar may have just received a major break in their separate child endangerment case — and if they manage to stay out of trouble for the next year, the charges against them could ultimately disappear.

The couple originally faced multiple serious charges following a search of their Arkansas home, including second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment. But rather than continuing to fight the case through a traditional trial, Joseph and Kendra recently changed their pleas and entered a court arrangement that could allow the entire case to be dismissed.

 

That doesn’t mean they’re completely in the clear yet.

According to court filings cited by People, the couple entered a one-year “advisement period” beginning Aug. 10. During that period, they must avoid any new criminal offenses, maintain good behavior, follow court orders and pay a $1,850 fine.

If they successfully complete the conditions, they are expected to return to court on Aug. 4, 2027, when the charges could be dismissed.

The development is especially significant because the couple’s legal troubles have unfolded alongside the much more serious criminal case against Joseph involving allegations that he molested a 9-year-old girl during a family vacation.

Joseph’s child endangerment case and his pending molestation case are separate matters, meaning a possible dismissal of the former does not mean his other criminal case is going away.

Joseph and Kendra initially pleaded not guilty to the child endangerment allegations. Prosecutors had charged them with four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment after authorities searched their home following Joseph’s initial arrest.

Kendra was subsequently required to turn herself in on the charges, while Joseph was already in custody.

Now, however, the couple appears to have a potential path toward resolving that particular case without a conviction — provided they make it through the next year without violating the court’s conditions.

And there’s another important detail.

While Kendra has been allowed to maintain contact with the couple’s four children, Joseph has reportedly had less success when it comes to visitation. His requests for unsupervised visits have not been granted, adding another complicated layer to the family’s ongoing legal situation.

 

Meanwhile, Joseph’s separate Florida case is still moving forward.

He is accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl, who is now 14, during a family trip to Florida. Joseph has denied the allegations and remains awaiting trial. His attorney previously indicated that discovery had been received and that depositions were underway, with five witnesses expected to be involved in the case, including the alleged victim and Kendra’s parents, Christina and Paul Caldwell.

So while Joseph and Kendra may potentially walk away from one set of charges, their overall legal situation remains far from over.

For now, the next major date to watch is Aug. 4, 2027. If the couple follows every condition imposed by the court during the one-year advisement period, the child endangerment and false imprisonment charges could finally be dismissed.

 

But Joseph’s separate criminal case remains pending — meaning this latest development may be a temporary legal victory rather than the end of the Duggar family’s ongoing courtroom drama.
