Speaking to PEOPLE, Carson shared that she was feeling “very nauseous” during her first trimester.

“I am just in pure survival mode right now,” says the reigning Mirrorball champ, who won Season 34 alongside partner Robert Irwin. “I am constantly trying to eat to keep the nausea at bay. I’m trying to rest as much as I can. I think with two toddlers, it’s very difficult to rest, but my husband has been an absolute champ and he has allowed me to rest, and he’s very much taking care of all of us.”

Carson also confirmed that she plans to compete on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars throughout her pregnancy. She revealed on GMA that her partner will be Jimmy Kimmel Live! star Guillermo Rodriguez.

“So my plan is to, as long as the baby is healthy and as long as I’m doing well, then we will compete again on this season on Dancing with the Stars, which is very exciting because I love being a mom more than anything, and I also love to dance,” she told PEOPLE. “I love both. And so if I can do both, then that’s what I want to do.”

“I’ll actually be the first professional dancer to compete being this far along pregnant, which is scary but also exciting,” continued Carson. “And I’m hoping that if everything goes well and the baby’s healthy, that it’ll be a really great experience.”

During her appearance on GMA, Carson said she was “very excited” but “would be lying if I said it wasn’t very daunting.”

“It wasn’t on my bingo card to compete on Dancing with the Stars and be four months pregnant, but I think that it’s a beautiful thing,” she told co-host Michael Strahan. “I want to feel empowered. I want to see what my body can do. And hopefully Guillermo will be right there beside me and we can work as a team. And, you know, being a mother is the greatest blessing that I could ever ask for. So I’m very blessed.”

Carson said she also won’t shy away from showing her growing bump. When someone suggested she cover up her stomach with “fringe and rhinestones” on her DWTS costume, “I was just thinking, I’m like, I don’t want to hide it. I am so proud to be a woman, to be creating life and growing this human, and to be able to do the show and compete and be able to grow this life is such a huge blessing,” she said. “I’m so proud of it, and I’m gonna kick butt while doing it. Let’s go.” Prior to sharing the exciting news, Carson opened up about whether she was ready for baby number three in a TikTok shared to her personal account in December 2025. In the video, the proud mom said that she wasn’t sure if she was ready for a third baby, saying the thought of expanding her family is “very exciting and scary.”

“I don’t know. I don’t know. I feel like the boys are at such good ages right where they are playing together, and I’m just really enjoying this phase of life, but I’m also ready to grow our family,” she said. “I don’t know if it’s in the next year, but I know it will be fairly soon. So that’s very exciting and scary all at the same time.”

McAllister and Carson began dating when they were in high school and got married in 2016. In 2021, the pair expanded their family with their son Leo. Two years later, their son Jet arrived.

Back in September 2023, Carson opened up about life with her two boys and her decision to step away from Dancing with the Stars for its 32nd season to spend more time with her family.

“It was a really difficult decision. Dancing is my passion, it’s what I love to do. I’ve been on the show for 11 years now, so deciding not to was a very big decision,” Carson told PEOPLE of her choice not to return to the ABC reality series at the time.

“My boys are really little, and Leo just started preschool, and Jet’s obviously very small. I’m only three months postpartum, so physically, I didn’t feel quite ready. I always want to be my 110% on anything that I do, and I didn’t feel quite like I could give that to what the show demands,” she explained at the time. “So we decided not to, and we’re deciding just to be home with each other and enjoy each other’s company and be a full-time mom, to soak up all of those big little moments and everything that comes with motherhood.”
