Diddy is firing back in a legal battle that’s getting even more complicated — the music mogul has now countersued the former videographer who previously accused him of sexual assault, claiming the man stole his private footage and sold it to Netflix.
According to court documents obtained by our team, Diddy alleges that Rodney Jones, a videographer and producer, abused his position of trust to swipe computer drives containing footage that belonged to the star. That footage, Diddy says, was originally meant for a documentary about his own life.
But instead, the countersuit claims Rodney copied the videos and quietly sold them to Netflix and 50 Cent, who used the material in a competing documentary titled “Sean Combs: The Reckoning.” Diddy asserts that Rodney also defamed him in that same film by repeating the allegations from his civil lawsuit.
The timeline, per the documents, goes back to December 2022 when Rodney was one of several videographers accompanying Diddy and his family to St. Barts. Diddy claims Rodney tried to get unusually close to him — even sleeping on a couch on the mogul’s yacht to stay near him.
Diddy further alleges that Rodney accessed another videographer’s workspace one day, took the videos, and then hid his actions to avoid suspicion. The countersuit also states that Rodney’s earlier sexual assault lawsuit was nothing more than a shakedown for extra money after he’d already been paid for his producer services.
For context, Rodney first sued Diddy in 2024, alleging sexual assault, including groping and unwanted nudity. He also made similar claims against Diddy’s son Justin Combs, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Stevie J — all of whom have denied the accusations.
