A disturbing case in Ohio has sparked a nationwide debate after a father allegedly used his 11-year-old daughter’s TikTok account to lure a man accused of sexually assaulting her to their home — where the father later shot him.
According to prosecutors, the case began after the girl’s mother discovered a video on her daughter’s phone that raised concerns about possible sexual abuse. Authorities later accused 20-year-old Diego Montoya Gonzalez of raping the child and creating sexually explicit material involving a minor. Gonzalez has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Investigators say the girl’s father, Malik Chandler, allegedly pretended to be his daughter online and contacted Gonzalez through TikTok, encouraging him to return to their home. Prosecutors say Chandler initially planned to confront him and contact police, but he claimed he fired after believing Gonzalez was reaching for a weapon.
Gonzalez survived the shooting and was later charged with multiple felony counts, including rape and pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. Chandler also faces charges related to the shooting.
