Jodi Jones case shock: Luke Mitchell—convicted over her death—grins beside his fiancée in an eerie prison photo while wearing a “Satanic” T-shirt

JODI JONES’ murderer Luke Mitchell beams for a photo with his fiancee in a creepy jail snap — while wearing a ‘Satanic’ t-shirt.

The 36-year-old lifer – said to be obsessed by the occult – cosied up to Gemma Chapman as the couple had their portrait taken during a prison visit.

Monster Mitchell – who refuses to admit stabbing and mutilating Jodi, 14 in 2003 – has a red-horned demon emblazoned across his chest in the sick pic.

Mitchell also had a collection of devil-themed books on his Christmas wish list — including The Satanic Bible.

His hand-written note from behind bars also features other macabre tomes by Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey.

We can reveal Jodi Jones’ killer requested copies of The Devil’s Notebook, The Satanic Witch, Satan Speaks and The Satanic Rituals by the late US oddball, whose devotees would strip naked on his altar and preach sexual freedom.

Mitchell, 36, was said to have been obsessed with the occult in June 2003 when he repeatedly stabbed 14-year-old girlfriend Jodi and slit her throat in woods near her home in Dalkeith, Midlothian.

Leaked notebooks suggested he was a dope-smoking devil worshipper infatuated with goth rocker Marilyn Manson and the unsolved murder of actress Elizabeth Short — whose naked body was found cut in half in the infamous 1947 Black Dahlia case.

The latest revelations came as pictures emerged showing Mitchell in a devil t-shirt while posing in jail with fiancée Gemma Chapman.

We told how the fiend, who continues to insist he is the victim of a miscarriage of justice, was denied his freedom in April 2024 after psychiatric reports established he remained a “sexual risk” to women.

A source said: “Luke Mitchell has spent the last 20-odd years insisting he is innocent but he’s spent just as much time obsessing about Satan.

“It’s an odd choice of t-shirt if he’s trying to convince folk he doesn’t have a dark side.”

“He wants the world to think he is a clean-living angel who doesn’t pose a threat to anyone.

“So he’ll be furious when the public get to see the darker side of his character. There’s good reason he wasn’t granted parole two years ago because he hasn’t changed a bit.”

We can reveal Mitchell also asked for goods from arts and crafts retailer Dryad Education for Christmas — adding “left handed” to the scrawled note which also gave his shoe size as ten.

Balding and bearded Mitchell was seen in public for the first time in 15 years on Thursday as he was briefly allowed out of jail amid tight security for his mum’s funeral.

He emerged cuffed to a guard at the send-off for Corinne following her death at 66 after a health battle.

Long-term partner Gemma — whom he reportedly proposed to at high-security Shotts nick in November 2024 — was by his side at Mortonhall Crematorium in Edinburgh.

In a picture of the couple understood to have been taken at the Lanarkshire jail this year, Mitchell is seen wearing a five-starred pentacle pendant — a symbol of paganism — and a Superman T-shirt.

In another image taken previously Mitchell beams in a t-shirt emblazoned with a devil image while leaning lovingly on Gemma’s shoulder. The lifer also wore a pair of flashy red and black Balmain Unicorn low-top sneakers which cost up to £1,000 new.

Mitchell was previously last seen in public with braids in his hair 15 years ago during a doomed bid to overturn his conviction at the Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh.

His frenzied murder of Jodi shocked the country. As well as a slashed throat, she had also suffered sickening wounds to her ear, mouth, breast and abdomen.

Mitchell claimed his dog led him to Jodi’s naked and mutilated body during a search.

He insisted he was innocent but in January 2005 a jury found the then 16-year-old guilty following a 42-day trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Lord Nimmo jailed him for at least 20 years for the “truly evil murder”.

No DNA link to the crime was ever established — leading campaigners to argue Mitchell, of Newbattle, Midlothian was wrongly convicted.

In 2012 he took a lie detector test in a bid to prove his innocence.

In February last year he lost a legal challenge over the Parole Board for Scotland’s decision to keep him locked up.
