The husband of Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three children in 2023, took the stand Monday and revealed she was reportedly taking at least six different psychiatric medications at the time of the tragedy.
According to testimony from Patrick Clancy—who has remained publicly supportive of his ex-wife throughout the trial—Lindsay’s anxiety was reportedly triggered by the thought of returning to work after her 18-week maternity leave ended. He said she told him she was on Zoloft as early as September 2022.
Her defense team claims Lindsay had been prescribed a cocktail of drugs by multiple doctors. The list reportedly includes Zoloft, Ativan, Lorazepam, Ambien, Valium, and Trazodone—used for depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders.
Despite hiring a nanny to help around 12 hours a week, Patrick recalled that Lindsay “kept getting worse and worse.” He admitted under questioning that he wasn’t tracking how many pills she actually took from each bottle.
Prosecutor Jennifer Sprague pressed him on the issue, suggesting that while many pills were prescribed, not many were actually consumed. Patrick responded, “It’s possible that not a lot were taken.”
