Lil Durk’s family left court celebrating after a judge granted a major defense motion ahead of the rapper’s August 20 trial. But almost immediately, the victory was overshadowed by a darker question spreading across social media: Even if Durk beats the Los Angeles case, could separate investigations put him back in handcuffs?
Durk’s father described the hearing as a clear win.
“The judge favored us and moved in our favor,” he said, adding that prosecutors were prevented from bringing additional allegations into the upcoming trial.
The ruling means certain accusations will not be heard as part of the current murder-for-hire case involving the death of Lul Pab, a relative of Quando Rondo. However, online commentators have claimed that authorities may still pursue separate cases involving the deaths of Stefan Mack and FBG Cash.
Those claims remain unproven in court, but they have fueled intense speculation.
At the center of the controversy is an alleged pattern involving Durk’s Instagram Live activity. Viral investigative threads claim that the rapper repeatedly appeared online shortly after high-profile shootings involving rivals or associates, leading some observers to question whether the livestreams were intended to establish his location.
One widely discussed example involves the 2022 killing of FBG Cash. According to circulating reports, Durk began an Instagram Live session shortly after the shooting. Similar claims have been made about the 2020 death of FBG Duck.
No court has established that the livestreams prove Durk ordered or participated in either killing.
The allegations became more serious after reports suggested that cooperating witnesses had linked Durk to an alleged bounty connected to Stefan Mack’s death. Online commentators, including DJ Akademiks, have claimed that recorded conversations and plea agreements may become part of future proceedings.
Durk has not been convicted in connection with those deaths.
The legal drama has also revived conspiracy theories surrounding King Von’s fatal 2020 shooting. Von’s father has publicly accused Durk of betraying his son, but those claims have not been proven and remain heavily disputed.
For now, Durk’s immediate focus is the August 20 trial. A victory there could represent one of the biggest legal comebacks in recent hip-hop history.
But if separate indictments are actually being prepared, the celebration may be temporary.
