A close friend of Caroline “Caro” Peña is preparing to say a final goodbye to the Texas mother of five, nearly a week after Peña was fatally stabbed in broad daylight in Del Rio.

Christina Salinas shared an emotional message Wednesday as she reflected on the pain of losing Peña, 32, and the difficult reality of attending her memorial service.

“Taking a deep breath and preparing my heart to see you one last time,” Salinas wrote. “Missing you is a heavy kind of love.”

Peña was allegedly killed last Thursday by Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, 19, Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, and Kyandra Renee Faz, 21. All three women have been charged with first-degree murder.

The charges remain allegations, and the women have not been convicted.

Friend Says Grief Has Been Overwhelming

Salinas said the days since Peña’s death have been among the hardest of her life.

“I know today at work it’s going to kill me all day thinking in just hours I’ll face reality,” she wrote. “I love you. This week has been one of the hardest ones in my life.”

Salinas said she was “truly honored” that Peña’s family asked her to deliver a reading at the memorial service, which is expected to take place in Del Rio, a small Texas city near the Mexican border.

“I’m so glad your family picked me and gave me the opportunity,” she wrote.

“You’re gone but never will you be forgotten. I promise I’ll try my hardest to stay strong.”

In another post, Salinas shared an old photo of herself with Peña in a car and vowed to keep pushing for accountability.

“I promise you that I’m not going to stop till we get justice,” she wrote.

Peña Was Stabbed Multiple Times, Complaint Says

According to a criminal complaint obtained by The Post, Peña was allegedly stabbed by Amaya “Cookie” Diaz during the attack.

The complaint states that Peña’s shirt became soaked with blood after she was struck.

A friend identified only as Tina told KENS that Peña was stabbed twice in the back and once in the stomach.

“One of the stab wounds ended up puncturing her lungs, which was the fatal cause,” the friend said.

After Peña was allegedly stabbed, Kitty Diaz and Faz are accused of joining the attack before the three women fled, according to the complaint.

Faz later claimed Peña had arrived at her home “looking to start a fight.”

Mother of Five Died After Being Airlifted to San Antonio

Peña was rushed to a local hospital after the attack and later airlifted to San Antonio, where she died from her injuries.

Relatives said Peña leaves behind five children, including two with special needs.

“All five will carry this loss for the rest of their lives,” family members said.

Her death has devastated loved ones and shaken the Del Rio community, where friends continue to mourn a woman they say should still be alive with her children.

Sisters Seen Smiling After Arrest

The Diaz sisters were arrested about two hours after the attack.

Video taken during the arrest showed Kitty smiling as officers escorted her into a patrol car. Amaya also appeared to smile and laugh while being led away in handcuffs, at one point telling the person filming to “stop recording.”

The footage sparked outrage among those grieving Peña’s death.

Police Say Killing Was Not Random

Del Rio Police Chief Frank Ramirez said Peña knew the women accused in her death, though officials have not publicly explained the nature of their relationship.

Police have not released a motive, and the case remains under investigation.

A department spokesperson said investigators believe the killing was not a random act of violence.

For Peña’s friends and family, the pain is still fresh. But Salinas’ message made clear that grief has now turned into a promise: Caro will not be forgotten, and those who loved her will keep fighting for justice.
