Josh Duggar has been moved to another federal prison, marking his fourth facility change in five years since his arrest and conviction in his child pornography case.

Duggar was originally detained at the Washington County Detention Center in Arkansas after his April 2021 arrest on charges related to receiving child sexual abuse material. He later maintained his innocence, but was convicted in 2022 and sentenced to 151 months — more than 12 years — in federal prison.

After sentencing, Duggar was moved to the Federal Correctional Institution in Seagoville, Texas, where he spent much of his sentence before being transferred again in 2026.

His latest move has drawn attention because his attorney, Beau Brindley, claims the repeated transfers are “punitive.” The lawyer alleged that prison officials retaliated against Duggar after concerns were raised about his legal mail being opened at the Seagoville facility.

19 Kids and Counting' star Josh Duggar found guilty in child porn trialBrindley claimed that after the alleged violations were brought up during a court hearing, Duggar was informed he would be transferred. He also argued that the move to FMC Fort Worth raised questions because the facility is focused on inmates needing medical and mental health services, while Duggar reportedly does not have a serious medical condition.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not confirmed that the transfers were connected to those allegations, stating that inmate moves can happen for multiple reasons, including security, safety, and institutional needs.

FTC Oklahoma City is considered a temporary holding facility, meaning Duggar may eventually be moved again to another long-term prison location.

Duggar’s projected release date remains February 2033, although his sentence timeline has previously changed. His attempts to overturn his conviction have also faced setbacks, including a recent ruling that rejected one of his appeals because the filing was considered late.

Despite his incarceration, Duggar’s wife Anna Duggar has continued supporting him. The couple shares seven children, and reports say Anna assisted with his legal efforts while he attempted to challenge his sentence.

For now, Josh Duggar remains in federal custody as his legal battles continue and he awaits a possible permanent prison assignment.
