Jedidiah Duggar and Katey Welcome Twin Daughters, Celebrate Growing Family of Six

Jedidiah “Jed” Duggar and his wife, Katey Duggar, are celebrating a major milestone after welcoming their twin daughters, officially becoming a family of six.

The former 19 Kids and Counting star and his wife announced the exciting news on January 9, sharing that their daughters, Elsie Kate Duggar and Emma Kate Duggar, were born the previous day. According to the couple, Elsie arrived first at 2:06 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces, while Emma followed just seven minutes later at 2:13 p.m., weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces.

In a heartfelt statement, Jed and Katey said they were overwhelmed with gratitude as they welcomed their newest additions.

“We are thrilled to share the joyous news of the arrival of our twin daughters, Elsie Kate and Emma Kate,” they shared. “Both girls are healthy, beautiful, and have completely captured our hearts.”

The couple also released a collection of touching hospital photos documenting the special occasion. In the images, Katey is seen cradling both newborns while they rest peacefully in matching striped hospital hats and wrapped in pastel blankets. Other photos captured some of the family’s sweetest moments as older siblings Truett, 2, and Nora, 1, met their baby sisters for the very first time.

Jed and Katey described watching their children’s reactions as one of the highlights of the experience.

“Truett and Nora are so excited to help us welcome them,” they said. “Watching their excitement and love for their little sisters has been such a sweet blessing for us as parents.”

The proud parents added that they feel incredibly thankful for the support they have received from family, friends and fans during this joyful chapter.

“We are so grateful to God for entrusting us with these precious girls. Our hearts are full, and we’re thankful for the love and support we’ve received during this joyful time.”

After leaving the hospital, the couple also shared additional photos of the twins on social media, this time dressed in coordinated outfits as fans flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages.

The birth marks another exciting milestone for the Duggar family. Jed and Katey first became parents in May 2022 with the arrival of their son, Truett, before welcoming daughter Nora just 13 months later. In July 2024, they surprised fans by announcing that they were expecting twins, making this their biggest family update yet.

The twin pregnancy held special meaning for Jed, who is himself a twin. He and his brother, Jeremiah Duggar, were born together and have shared a close bond throughout their lives. When announcing the pregnancy last summer, Jed admitted he was especially excited to watch his own daughters experience that same unique connection.

“The bond between twins is truly special, and I can’t wait to see them grow and experience life together,” he said at the time.

Meanwhile, Jeremiah and his wife, Hannah Duggar, are also expanding their family and are expecting their third daughter, continuing the latest baby boom within the Duggar family.

Jed and Katey’s own love story has remained relatively private compared to many other Duggar courtships. The couple quietly dated for more than a year before surprising fans by announcing their wedding in April 2021. At the time, Jed revealed that he had spent years praying for his future wife and described Katey as an answer to those prayers.

“For a long time I have prayed for my future spouse, not knowing who that person would be,” he wrote after their wedding. “God answered my prayers far beyond what I could have ever imagined in Katey. We have enjoyed quietly developing our relationship over the past year and every moment together has been amazing.”

Now, nearly four years into their marriage, the couple are embracing life as parents of four young children. With the arrival of Elsie and Emma, Jed and Katey begin an exciting new chapter, surrounded by the love of their growing family and looking forward to raising two daughters who will share the lifelong bond of being twins.
