In a conversation with hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakson on the Heart Breakfast program on May 22nd, William said he was very proud of Catherine, Princess of Wales, after everything she has gone through since her cancer diagnosis in 2024.

“She’s been through so much in the last few years. Kate is amazing,” William said while visiting the Scilly Islands to inaugurate a new section of St Mary’s Hospital.

The heir to the British throne revealed that Kate had been eagerly anticipating her trip to Italy – her first overseas trip since her treatment. According to William, his wife spends a lot of time researching before each trip and is particularly passionate about child development.

“She’s a real expert in early childhood education. Many nights I had to squeeze through the piles of documents crammed into the bedroom,” he joked.

William said Kate returned from her trip in high spirits. “I’m so glad the trip went well. I think she came back with positive energy,” he said.

The Prince of Wales also didn’t hesitate to express his gratitude to his wife: “Kate is a wonderful mother and a wonderful wife. My family can’t do without her.”

However, William admitted that the trips are very energy-consuming, so the family still has to balance the schedule to ensure Kate gets adequate rest. “It’s important to make sure she stays healthy,” he added.

During her visit to Italy last week, Kate attracted attention by participating in pasta-making at a farm in the Reggio Emilia region. The Princess kneaded the dough, rolled out the pasta, and made traditional tortelli with a local chef.

She also visited Salvador Allende Nursery School, which was warmly welcomed by many children and parents. Kate introduced herself by her Italian name, “Caterina,” and participated in many outdoor activities with the children.

William and Kate married in 2011 after nearly a decade of dating. They currently have three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. For over 15 years of marriage, the couple has been considered a model of a stable royal marriage thanks to their close relationship, privacy, and shared responsibility in raising their children. In recent years, William has been closely by his wife’s side during her illness and has reduced some royal activities to prioritize family care.
