Country music’s rising star Bailey Zimmerman is facing the biggest controversy of his career. The 26-year-old singer has been hit with a fourth-degree felony charge after allegedly causing more than $16,000 in damage to a hotel room in Albuquerque, New Mexico, just hours after abruptly canceling a concert that he told fans was postponed because of illness.

According to court documents obtained by multiple outlets, the events leading up to the cancellation were chaotic.
Zimmerman was scheduled to perform at the Sandia Resort and Casino on May 27. But during soundcheck, security personnel allegedly noticed that the singer appeared intoxicated. Witnesses claimed he was stumbling on stage, throwing microphones, knocking over parts of a drum kit, and repeatedly storming off the stage in frustration.
The affidavit reportedly paints an even stranger picture.
At one point, Zimmerman allegedly became upset because he was picked up in a white SUV instead of a black one. He is also accused of spitting in the direction of a security officer and returning to the resort with a bloody knee, missing one shoe, and needing assistance from a member of his team to walk through the hallway.
Shortly afterward, the show was canceled.
Fans were told Zimmerman was ill and needed time to recover.
“I have not been feeling well and have tried to power through,” he wrote on social media at the time. “I’m not able to give you all the show you deserve.”
But investigators now allege there was much more happening behind the scenes.
Hotel staff say Zimmerman was asked to leave the resort because of his behavior. Police were eventually called, and after he left the property, housekeeping entered his room and allegedly discovered extensive damage.
The reported destruction included a damaged television, broken phone, holes in the wall, stained carpet, and even two missing chairs. Prosecutors estimate the total damage at around $16,000, which led to a felony charge for criminal damage to property. Zimmerman is also facing a misdemeanor charge for allegedly obtaining services fraudulently after reportedly charging more than $400 worth of alcohol to his room without paying for it.
An arrest warrant was issued on June 18 after authorities said attempts to contact Zimmerman and his team were unsuccessful. As of now, neither the singer nor his representatives have publicly responded to the allegations.
The news comes as a shock to many fans, especially because Zimmerman publicly vowed last year to change his relationship with alcohol.
In January 2025, the singer apologized after admitting he performed drunk at the Crash My Playa festival in Mexico, calling his performance “awful” and saying he was embarrassed by his actions. Months later, he told fans he had quit drinking and that sobriety had “truly changed” his life.
Now, fans are left wondering:
Was this an isolated incident?
Or is one of country music’s fastest-rising stars facing a much deeper struggle behind the scenes?
The answer could shape the future of Bailey Zimmerman’s career.
