Lewis Hamilton is reportedly feeling let down by Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur after a chaotic Italian Grand Prix that saw the Scuderia’s hopes go up in smoke at Monza.
While teenage sensation Kimi Antonelli thrilled the tifosi by charging from 19th to a stunning home win for Mercedes, Ferrari’s day turned into a nightmare before the race even settled.
According to Italian media reports, the seven-time world champion is frustrated that Ferrari lacks clear driver rules—something he relied on during his Mercedes years.
Hamilton and Charles Leclerc made controversial contact on Lap 1, then Leclerc crashed out heavily on Lap 2, leaving Hamilton to limp home in sixth place.
The team’s new engine upgrade failed to close the massive gap to Antonelli, and Hamilton didn’t hold back in criticizing Ferrari’s strategy after the race.
Giorgio Pasini of Tuttosport gave the Scuderia a brutal 4/10 rating but defended Hamilton, handing him a 7/10 and writing that he “feels betrayed by Vasseur” over the lack of team orders.
Pasini added that Hamilton is “fighting with what he has” and openly questioning the leadership—something the journalist says is hard to blame him for.
Leclerc, meanwhile, received a harsh 2/10, with Pasini calling his moves “disastrous” and pointing to the early contact and a crash caused by hitting the new slippery kerbs.
The record crowd of 404,000 came hoping for a Ferrari revival, but instead witnessed what Pasini described as “friendly fire” that effectively ends any title talk for 2026.
