I walked in on my wife video calling her affair partner. I scared her senseless and then kicked her to the curb. ough. Haley, my wife of just three years, was supposed to be my forever.

It really hurts to put that into words because it’s still so fresh. It all happened a few days ago, and I’m still shaking from the shock of it. I don’t even think I have enough time to get over this degree of heartbreak. I wanted to build a family with her.
Instead, I got a cheater. Someone who couldn’t even make it half a decade with me. I still don’t know how to fully process that. stories told about daily life and entertain people.
I don’t deserve this. . Haley works as a store manager at a retail chain in our city. She often gets back late when the store closes.
When she gets home, she always hits the shower first. Sometimes she takes a really long time in there, but I never worried about it. I figured she needed some alone time. I never barged in on her.
I thought I was giving her space to decompress. But that’s where everything fell apart. . There was a day I was downstairs watching TV when she walked in from a long shift.
She went straight upstairs, like she always does, and I left her alone. But then I heard a loud thud from upstairs. My heart jumped because I thought she might have fallen and hurt herself. I called out her name.
Nothing. I called again. Silence. So I went upstairs, my mind racing with every step.
I kept calling her, but she didn’t answer. When I reached the bathroom door, I didn’t bother knocking because my only thought was that she was hurt. I threw open the door and rushed in. That’s when I saw her sitting on the toilet, completely naked, with her AirPods in.
She was holding her phone at arm’s length when I entered, and she flinched so hard that she dropped it. She looked terrified. I quickly explained that I heard a thud and was worried she had fallen. I reached down to pick up her phone.
She tried to grab it first, but I was quicker. As I handed it back to her, I caught a glimpse of what was on the screen. FaceTime. With someone named Nathan.
Immediately, she disconnected the call, but it was too late. I already saw what I needed to see. But she wasn’t ready to face it yet. She just sat there, barely acting human, looking for me to tell her how much I knew.
I told her I heard a noise and wanted to check if she was okay. She said she was fine and it must have been the TV downstairs. I asked her what she was doing. She said she was using the toilet before her shower.
That struck me as odd because she had been home for over 30 minutes already. She never sat on the toilet longer than she had to. So I asked her what she was really doing with her phone. She claimed she was taking pictures of herself to send to me.
I knew she was lying immediately. I asked to see the pictures. She said she was just starting when I walked in, so there were none to see. I was tired of her games.
I told her plainly that I saw her on a video call with someone. She insisted I must have seen her camera, not a call. She claimed that when she dropped her phone, it must have switched apps. That was her defense.
It was pathetic. We both knew the truth, but she fought to escape the corner I had her in. I said, “If I check your phone right now, am I going to find a recent FaceTime with a guy called Nathan? ” Her face went white.
That told me everything. She started stuttering, trying to form words, but I cut her off. I demanded to know why she was on a video call with another man while she was naked. She said he couldn’t see anything.
I reminded her that I literally saw her holding the phone at arm’s length. I told her to stop lying to me. She weakly said she wasn’t lying and that I had to believe her. At that point, I started to lose it.
I’m not an angry guy. I’ve never been someone with rage issues. But standing there, facing your wife cheating on you and seeing her deny it right to your face, that pushed me somewhere I don’t want to go again. I told her I was giving her one last chance to admit everything.
She stayed silent for a moment, weighing her options, then finally whispered that it wasn’t what it looked like. I told her to hand me her phone then, and I’d find out for myself. She refused. That’s when I snapped.
I grabbed a ceramic ornament from our bathroom shelf and I hurled it straight into the mirror. It shattered on impact. I don’t know what came over me, but I couldn’t stop. I kicked the door until I punched a hole through it.
I ripped the shower rod off the wall. I destroyed everything around me, acting like a tantrum. She was shaking, shrunk into the corner, crying. Seeing how scared she was only made me keep going.
I did a lot of damage, but I didn’t care. I’ve never seen her look at me with that kind of fear before. She couldn’t move. She wanted to run, but she knew better than to test me.
When I finally got it all out of my system, I turned to her. She probably thought I was going to hit her. That was never going to happen. But I wanted her scared.
I wanted her too scared to lie to me anymore. I told her I would give her one last chance to tell me the truth. She broke almost instantly. She said she was sorry.
She said she had made a massive mistake. She admitted she had cheated on me and that she regretted it. I told her to explain everything. From the beginning.
She said it had started at work. A guy who worked at her store walked up to her one day. He was younger than her, about five years. He was clearly trying to get to know her even though she was wearing a ring.
She kept telling him she was married, but he was persistent. Eventually, she gave him her number just so he would leave her alone. Her plan was to block him as soon as he texted, but he had charm. He told her he wasn’t trying to get in her pants, so she kept talking to him.
He played her perfectly. He acted all friendly and harmless, making her laugh, until he started flirting. By then, she already liked him. He asked her out for coffee after her shift.
She went. They kissed in his car. She tried to stop it there, but one day when we had an argument, he showed up at her work again. She followed him home.
That’s when things happened. She said she knew what she was doing was wrong, but she found it exciting. It made her feel desirable. She planned to stop, but she let it go on for too long, until I caught her.
I asked her how many times they had slept together. She hesitated. I asked again. She finally said she couldn’t count, but it was less than 20.
I nearly lost my mind. I had slept with her several times during that period. I pointed that out to her. The only thing she could say was that she was sorry.
I asked her if it had been worth it. She shook her head, crying. I agreed with her. It wasn’t worth it.
We were only three years into our life together, and she couldn’t keep herself from serving her body up to someone else in that time. I told her there was no chance she’d remain faithful in 10, 20, or40 years. She cried and insisted she could, but I just shook my head. I told her I had said everything I needed to say.
I made it clear that the only outcome for us now was divorce. She looked like I broke her heart when I said it. But she had broken mine minutes before. I wasn’t going to sympathy.
I told her it was time for her to pack her things and leave the house. She said,“What? ” as if she couldn’t believe it. I told her there was no way she was going to keep living in the same house as me after what she did.
She just stood there, her mouth open, searching for words that wouldn’t come. I spelled it out for her. I told her she must have thought I was a fool if I was going to allow a cheating woman to stay in my house, waking up to see her every day. I couldn’t promise how I’d react if I had to deal with that for weeks on end.
I told her she had plenty of friends and family in the city to go crash with. She told me I couldn’t kick her out. I laughed and told her to try me. She just sat there, staring at me, the image of me going berserk clearly stuck in her head.
I went upstairs to our bedroom, grabbed one of her suitcases, and started throwing her things into it. I packed it to the brim before she came in. When she saw me, she broke down crying again. She realized there was no turning back now.
She didn’t even try to repack. She just grabbed a second suitcase and started filling it silently. Once she was done, I carried both suitcases downstairs, tossed them into the trunk of her car, and walked back inside without a word. The next day, I called in sick from work and cleaned up the bathroom.
I fixed what I could fix myself and hired professionals to handle the rest. I also changed the locks on the doors. As far as I was concerned, she no longer had any right to be in that house. I’m sure the law would disagree, but I couldn’t care less about the law at that moment.
I was still so lost mentally. How was I supposed to come to terms with the stability I thought I had just falling apart? I hoped writing all this out would give me at least a little clarity. It took a while, but I’m finally back with an update.
After I kicked her out, she went to live with her sister, about an hour’s drive away. She was commuting to work every day, which didn’t sound fun at all, but I didn’t care that much. I just needed to know where she would be so I could have her served. As soon as I had her location confirmed, I sent the divorce papers to her workplace.
It happened while she was on the store floor. Her co-workers and customers all saw it. It was embarrassing for her. I know that because she called me afterward, trying to play it cool, but I could hear in her voice that she had been crying.
She said it was unnecessary. I told her I had to get them to her one way or another. There wasn’t much else to say. We stayed silent until it was time to settle the divorce.
I tried to reach an agreement with her because I wanted no part in a messy court battle. My terms were more than reasonable. But she had grown resentful of me, and she refused to agree to anything. So we took it all to court.
Sadly, I didn’t have direct evidence of her affair. And she didn’t have evidence of my destruction that night. We both had claims that couldn’t be proven. In the end, the court split everything evenly.
We had a mortgage on the house, one we had taken on together. The court gaveher the house. Honestly, I didn’t mind that much. The mortgage was too much for one income, and I wasn’t attached to the house anyway.
Plus, I didn’t mind having afhalf its value refinanced and hitting my bank account. I felt like I won there, though she felt like she won too. I also have to pay her minimal alimony because of the short duration of our marriage. I didn’t complain about it.
She’ll get her little payday, then she’s on her own. I don’t care what she does with her life. About a month later, she called me. She said she was putting her pride aside, but she needed help.
I asked her with what. She said she needed me to send her money to last her through the week, promising to pay me back. I was confused. We had split our joint savings, so she had money.
She didn’t explain where it went. I could only guess she blew it on something stupid to make herself feel better about the divorce. She just said she had paid themortgage and now she was low on cash. I mentioned the savings we split.
She dodged the question. I laughed. I could tell she was fuming. I told her I wasn’t the person to help her.
She could sell the house if she wanted extra money. That would take care of her mortgage problem too. But besides alimony, she wasn’t gettinga dime from me. She was a grown woman who could take care of herself.
Her ego was bruised. She started calling me names. I just laughed all through it. Eventually, she hung up on me.
I don’t have much else to say to her. She knows how I feel about her. I hope she holds onto that for the rest of her life. If I ever meet future partners of hers, I’ll warn them.
I’ll tell them what she’s capable of. That’ll be my public service. For me, all that’s left is to live my life and try to move past the damage she caused. The audacity of her standing there butt naked on FaceTime with another man, then telling me, “Maybe when I dropped the phone, I switched to another app.
” Even her phone was trying to escape that disaster. And then she confessed to cheating less than twenty times. Twenty. Then she acted shocked when I kicked her out.
How do cheaters pull off that wide-eyed “What? Me? No. ” act after they’ve built the entire mess themselves?
It’s one thing to lie. It’s another to actually be flabbergasted that reality finally caught up with you. I’m still working through it all, but I know one thing for sure.
I’m better off without her.
