COPS have revealed the cause of death for a teenage girl whose body was found inside a suitcase in Thailand.
The naked body of Tunchanok Donhomla, 17, was found dumped near railway tracks in Pattaya on June 27.
Australian expat Simon Peter Carman, 45, has been charged with the murder of the teenager.
Thai cops have now revealed that autopsy results found that the teen suffered a brain injury and died of suffocation, 7News report.
Superintendent Colonel Anek Srathongyoo said: “The autopsy report said that [Tunchanok] had a brain injury and she suffocated.
“She had no other injuries.”
Carman allegedly met Tunchanok, known locally as “Cake”, near Pattaya beach after drinking at a red light district bar until about 2am on June 25.
Police allege they got into an argument about money and claim Carman previously said he “may have strangled her, causing her to lose consciousness and eventually die”.
CCTV footage shows Carman and Tunchanok entering his apartment at 03:34 am and later that evening he can be seen walking alone carrying a large suitcase.
Cops said they had collected Carman’s DNA and matched it to DNA found on Tunchanok’s body.
Anek added that the DNA match “likely came from when he put her body in the suitcase”.
Police are hopeful that the investigation will conclude by August 21, as they must indict Carman by September 18 .
Carman has been charged with murder, which in Thailand, is punishable by death or life in prison.
He also faces three other charges; concealing or moving a body, kidnapping a child over 15 but under 18, and taking away a child over 15 but under 18 for an indecent act.
Following his arrest, Carman denied the charges against him, claiming he had “acted in self defence”.
In a video recorded in custody, Carmen apologised to Tunchanok’s family saying he felt bad and that it was “out of [his] control.”
He added: “I know you’ll be very sad, upset… same [as] me.
“Please tell other girls… just to be careful.”
Thai police are also investigating possible links between three previous bodies found in suitcases.
They emphasised that there is no evidence linking Carman to the deaths, but detectives are investigating the similarities.
One victim was found in September 2025, stuffed inside a suitcase with gym weights attached at the Khlong Bang Phai Reservoir, Chonburi.
In February 2025, a fisherman in Rayong discovered a floating suitcase containing a naked dead woman body, believed to be in her 30s, and heavy weights to weigh down the bag.
A red suitcase was also found in January 2025 near Highway No. 331 in Chonburi, with dumbbells and the remains of a woman, also believed to be in her 30s.
