The father of one of the four University of Idaho victims is starting to see something that connects his daughter to the man accused of killing her—and he’s not ready to talk about it yet.
Steve Goncalves, whose 21-year-old daughter Kaylee was among those stabbed to death on November 13, told ABC News that he’s beginning to notice links between Kaylee and 28-year-old suspect Bryan Kohberger. He didn’t specify what those connections might be.
According to the family’s attorney, Shanon Grey, the Goncalves family didn’t recognize Kohberger’s name or face before his arrest. Grey said they are now trying to piece together any possible ties.
“Now that there’s a person and a name that someone can specifically look for and see if there’s any connections in any way,” Grey said, “they’re just trying to figure it out.”
Steve Goncalves has made it clear he plans to be in the courtroom when Kohberger is brought back to Idaho to face charges in the deaths of Kaylee, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20.
“This guy’s gonna have to look me in my eyes multiples times, and I’m going to be looking for the truth,” Goncalves said.
With the suspect now in custody, the family is left searching for answers—and wondering what those unseen links might reveal.
