Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur has sent a clear message to Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc as the season heats up: play fair or face the consequences. With the championship battle tightening, the team principal is drawing a firm line on behavior.
Kimi Antonelli currently leads the drivers’ standings after eleven rounds, but Hamilton sits second and Leclerc holds fourth. The seven-time champion trails by 50 points, while Leclerc faces an 81-point gap to the top.
Both drivers are hungry to close that distance, and Vasseur knows tensions could rise. In a recent chat with AutoHebdo, he stressed the importance of respect inside the garage.
“Part of the performance always stems from the comparison between the two drivers,” Vasseur explained. He noted that Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes all face similar dynamics, with drivers trading places week to week.
“They must respect the team, just as we respect them; they must behave correctly,” he added. The boss also praised their teamwork, saying they push each other to deliver 110 percent every lap.
But make no mistake—each driver’s first glance at the timesheet is aimed at their teammate. Vasseur sees that competitive fire as fuel for progress, as long as it stays clean.
