Chris Brown is pushing back hard against his former housekeeper’s attempt to seize money from his current Usher tour—cash she says she’s owed after winning a nearly $13 million judgment against the singer.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Brown filed legal objections to Maria Avila’s request to have all of his present and future income assigned to her. That includes earnings from his ongoing stadium tour royalties.
Avila was awarded the massive payout after a jury sided with her in a lawsuit over a 2020 dog attack at Brown’s Los Angeles mansion. She claimed the animal attacked her, causing severe injuries. Brown maintained the dog was provoked, but the jury disagreed.
Now, in his latest filing, Brown argues Avila’s bid to redirect every dollar he makes is far too sweeping and goes beyond what the law allows.
Avila had previously argued that Brown had made no effort to pay the judgment, forcing her to ask the court for enforcement.
Meanwhile, Brown and Usher are deep into their nationwide tour, with 33 shows scheduled between June and December.
