A promising young life was cut short in a case that shocked an Oklahoma community — and investigators say the evidence revealed a disturbing betrayal by someone who once knew the victim best.
Madeline Marie Bills, an 18-year-old high school honors student from Moore, Oklahoma, was found dead in April 2023 inside the pool house behind her parents’ home. Her ex-boyfriend, Chace Cook, was later arrested and convicted in connection with her killing.
According to investigators, Cook had recorded himself sexually assaulting Madeline while she was unconscious before strangling her. Court records and police reports revealed that friends had previously told authorities Madeline was afraid of Cook and had considered taking extra precautions for her safety.
The case became even more heartbreaking as those who knew Madeline described her as a talented student with a compassionate spirit. She was preparing to graduate high school and was remembered by loved ones as someone who cared deeply about others, animals, and her community.
