Amy Fisher’s Son Charged in Connection With Pet Cat’s Death, Florida Authorities Say

The son of Amy Fisher, whose name became widely known in one of the most publicized criminal cases of the 1990s, is now facing criminal charges in an unrelated case in Florida.

According to court records, Brett Anthony Bellera, 25, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Armenti, have been charged with aggravated animal cruelty following the death of their pet cat, Reaper. Both are accused in connection with events that prosecutors say occurred in 2024. Bellera has entered a not guilty plea, while the case against both defendants remains pending.

Investigation Began After Cat Was Found Dead

According to an arrest affidavit, investigators began looking into the case after concerns were raised about the condition in which the cat was discovered.

Authorities allege veterinary findings indicated the animal had been exposed to extreme heat for an extended period before it died.

The examination concluded that the cat experienced prolonged physical distress before its death, leading investigators to pursue criminal charges.

Charges Filed Against Two Defendants

Bellera and Armenti were both charged under Florida’s aggravated animal cruelty statute.

Court documents allege the pair failed to provide appropriate care and allowed the circumstances that ultimately resulted in the animal’s death.

Bellera has pleaded not guilty, according to court records. As of PEOPLE’s report, online court documents had not yet indicated whether Armenti had entered a plea. Both defendants remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Amy Fisher Not Accused in the Case

Although Bellera is the son of Amy Fisher, authorities have not suggested that Fisher had any involvement in the investigation or the allegations.

The case is entirely separate from the events that made Fisher nationally known more than three decades ago.

To date, Fisher has not publicly commented on the charges involving her son.

Legal Proceedings Continue

The case will now proceed through the Florida court system, where prosecutors are expected to present evidence supporting the allegations.

Defense attorneys will have the opportunity to challenge that evidence as part of the judicial process.
