Kendra Duggar has secured a significant development in her ongoing Arkansas criminal case after a judge approved a request to lift a no-contact order that had prevented her from communicating with certain individuals connected to the investigation.
The ruling comes as Kendra continues to fight criminal charges filed earlier this year, while her husband, Joseph Duggar, remains the focus of a separate child molestation case in Florida.
According to recently filed court documents, attorney Travis W. Story formally entered his appearance as Kendra’s legal counsel and submitted not guilty pleas on her behalf to charges of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment. Those charges stem from an Arkansas investigation that authorities have repeatedly said is separate from the criminal allegations Joseph faces in Florida.
Along with entering her pleas, Kendra’s legal team asked the court to remove a no-contact order that had been imposed shortly after her arrest in March. Defense attorneys argued that maintaining the restrictions was no longer necessary because Kendra had complied with every condition ordered by the court.
The motion further stated that the individuals protected by the order wanted communication with Kendra to resume and that continued enforcement of the restrictions was interfering with important evaluations being conducted by third-party professionals involved in the case.
After reviewing the request, the judge agreed to dissolve the no-contact order in its entirety. The order, signed on April 17, cleared the way for Kendra to once again have contact with the individuals who had previously been covered by the restrictions.
The court also authorized the Arkansas Department of Human Services to oversee and assist with the reunification process. Under the ruling, the agency will supervise future contact and help ensure that any interactions take place in accordance with the court’s conditions while the criminal case remains pending.
Although the decision represents an important legal victory for Kendra, it does not affect the criminal charges she continues to face. She remains a defendant in the Arkansas case and has maintained her innocence since her arrest.
Kendra was taken into custody only days after Joseph Duggar’s arrest created national headlines. Authorities initially attempted to locate her at the Duggar family compound in Washington County while executing an arrest warrant but were unable to find her. She later surrendered to law enforcement, was booked into jail, and was subsequently released after posting bond.
Her arrest followed Joseph’s detention in Florida, where prosecutors accused him of sexually abusing a child during a family vacation in Panama City Beach in 2020. According to investigators, the alleged victim—now 14 years old—told authorities the incidents occurred when she was just 9 years old.
Florida prosecutors allege Joseph repeatedly encouraged the child to sit on his lap before later asking her to sit beside him beneath a blanket, where he allegedly touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions. Court documents also state that investigators believe Joseph later admitted to inappropriate conduct during conversations with the girl’s father and law enforcement officials.
Joseph has denied all of the allegations and entered not guilty pleas to the Florida charges. After his arrest, he was released on a $600,000 bond and remains free while awaiting trial.
In addition to the Florida prosecution, Joseph is also facing criminal charges in Arkansas that mirror those filed against Kendra. Prosecutors have charged him with multiple counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment. Authorities have emphasized that those Arkansas allegations are unrelated to the Florida molestation case.
The legal challenges confronting the couple have generated widespread public attention, particularly because both previously appeared on the Duggar family’s reality television programs. Since the investigations began, nearly every court filing has drawn significant interest as prosecutors continue pursuing separate criminal cases in two different states.
The lifting of Kendra’s no-contact order marks the first major courtroom victory for her defense team. While the ruling restores communication with the individuals previously covered by the order under the supervision of state officials, it does not resolve the criminal allegations against her.
Both Kendra and Joseph continue to deny wrongdoing, and the separate criminal proceedings against each of them remain ongoing as courts in Arkansas and Florida prepare for future hearings.
