Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband, Derick Dillard, have shared the heartbreaking news that they lost their baby daughter, Isla Marie, to stillbirth.
The couple announced the loss through a joint Instagram post and a message on their family blog, expressing their grief while thanking supporters for their prayers during this difficult time.
“With heavy hearts, we share that our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard, was stillborn,” they wrote. “From the moment we learned we were expecting, she was deeply loved. Her three older brothers were excited to welcome their little sister, and we were all looking forward to meeting her.”
Jill had been expecting to give birth in August. However, earlier in April, the couple revealed that doctors had informed them their daughter had died before birth.
As they continue mourning the loss, the Dillards asked for continued prayers as their family navigates the healing process.
Stillbirth occurs when a baby dies before or during delivery at or after 20 weeks of pregnancy. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the condition affects approximately one in every 175 births in the United States each year.
Unlike a miscarriage, which involves pregnancy loss before 20 weeks, a stillbirth happens later in pregnancy. The CDC notes that it can affect families of every background, although certain factors—including maternal age over 35, smoking, underlying medical conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, previous pregnancy loss, and being Black—are associated with an increased risk.
Jill Duggar Dillard, 33, and Derick Dillard, 35, were married on June 21, 2014. They are parents to three sons: Israel David, Samuel Scott, and Frederick Michael, who is affectionately known as “Freddy.”
Since relocating to Oklahoma in 2022, Derick has worked as an attorney while the family has focused on raising their children and sharing occasional updates with supporters.
The announcement of Isla Marie’s stillbirth was met with an outpouring of condolences from friends, followers, and members of the broader Duggar community, as many offered messages of comfort and support to the family during their time of mourning.
