Shania Twain has surprised fans by revealing that she had to decline an invitation to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding because of a prior commitment she had already made to Harry Styles — who also happens to be one of Swift’s most famous ex-boyfriends.
Speaking during an interview with CTV’s etalk, the country music icon shared that she had been invited to attend the highly anticipated wedding, reportedly scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York in early July. However, a previously confirmed performance commitment meant she was unable to change her plans.
“Taylor Swift invited me to her wedding, but I couldn’t attend because I was already scheduled to perform with Harry Styles,” Twain said.
According to the veteran singer, she was set to appear as a special guest during Harry Styles’ 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium in London, which runs from June 12 through July 4. Having already committed to the shows, Twain said she was unwilling to cancel at the last minute.
“I had already promised Harry that I would be there, and I didn’t want to back out of that commitment,” she explained.
What made the situation even more amusing to Twain was the irony behind it all: the person responsible for her missing Taylor Swift’s wedding was none other than Swift’s former boyfriend.
“It’s actually pretty funny when you think about it,” Twain joked while reflecting on the relationship that once captured headlines around the world.
Despite the unusual circumstances, Twain admitted she was genuinely disappointed that she could not be there to celebrate Swift’s big day.
“I made my decision, but honestly, I would have done anything to attend Taylor’s wedding,” she said. “I really wanted to be there, but I also had to keep my promise to Harry.”

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles briefly dated from late 2012 to early 2013. Although their relationship lasted only a few months, it remains one of the most talked-about romances in modern pop music history.
Following their breakup, fans widely speculated that Swift drew inspiration from the relationship for several of her hit songs, including I Knew You Were Trouble, Out of the Woods, and Style. Meanwhile, Styles’ song Two Ghosts from his debut solo album has often been rumored to reference his relationship with the pop superstar.
Even though both Swift and Styles have long since moved on to new chapters in their personal lives and careers, public fascination with their brief but memorable romance has never completely faded.
This time, it was Shania Twain who unexpectedly brought that chapter of pop culture history back into the spotlight — after a promise to Harry Styles became the reason she missed Taylor Swift’s wedding.
