Kid Rock is giving fans a rare glimpse into his friendship with President Donald Trump—and according to the rocker, it sometimes involves late-night phone calls after a few drinks.

In a new interview with Sky News for the special Trump’s America: 250 Years in the Making, the singer shared that one of his favorite “late-night drinking tricks” is calling Trump because he knows there’s a good chance the president will answer.
“It’s one of my late-night drinking tricks because I know when to get him,” Kid Rock said.
“He’s so gracious, he always picks up or he’ll call and check in just to shoot the s—.”
The 55-year-old musician, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, was quick to clarify that the conversations are far from official.
“He’s not calling me to say, ‘Hey, what should we do in Iran, Bob?’ I don’t get those calls,” he joked, explaining that their chats are simply friendly conversations rather than discussions about government policy.
Kid Rock added that he usually reaches out on Friday or Saturday nights after having a few beers because he knows Trump tends to stay up late.
“He sleeps like me,” the singer said. “He sleeps five hours.”
Describing their friendship, Kid Rock called it “f—ing awesome” and said he enjoys having what he described as “a front-row seat to the greatest s— show on Earth.” He said he values the opportunity to spend time with Trump and watch history unfold from a unique perspective.
The interview also touched on criticism surrounding Trump’s personal finances while in office.
After reports showed Trump had earned billions in personal income since returning to office in 2025, Kid Rock defended the president, arguing that Trump’s business success long predated his political career.
“He’s a businessman. He’s smart,” Kid Rock said, adding that he believes Trump’s motivations are rooted in what he sees as the country’s best interests.
Kid Rock has been one of Trump’s most visible celebrity supporters for years.
He has performed at campaign rallies, visited the White House, attended sporting events alongside Trump, and most recently appeared at Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show earlier this year. Their friendship has remained highly public throughout Trump’s political career.
While Kid Rock’s comments have sparked plenty of conversation online, they also offer a glimpse into the unusually personal relationship the musician says he shares with one of the world’s most recognizable political figures.
According to Kid Rock, sometimes those conversations begin with nothing more than a late-night phone call—and a few beers.
