Jason Duggar and his wife, Maddie Grace Duggar, have publicly broken their silence following Joseph Duggar’s arrest, issuing a strongly worded statement condemning the allegations and expressing support for the alleged child victim.
Sharing a joint message on Instagram, the couple said they have spent the past week overwhelmed with emotion after learning of the accusations against Joseph. They described themselves as “shocked, confused and grieved,” while making it clear that their focus is not on how the scandal has affected the Duggar family, but on the child at the center of the case.
The couple said they were “disgusted” by the allegations and described the reported conduct as “vile,” adding that it was impossible to comprehend how someone entrusted with caring for children could allegedly abuse that responsibility. They stressed that their hearts remain with the alleged victim, whose life they said had been forever changed by the accusations.
Jason and Maddie also called for justice to be served, saying they hope both God and the legal system will hold those responsible accountable if the allegations are proven. They praised the alleged victim for having the courage to come forward and encouraged others to keep her and her family in their prayers during what they described as an incredibly painful time.
The couple also expressed concern for Joseph’s own children, saying they are now facing the difficult reality of growing up without the father they believed should have been a positive spiritual role model. They concluded their statement with a simple but powerful message: “We stand with innocent children. Always.”
Their comments add to a growing list of public reactions from members of the Duggar family following Joseph’s arrest. Several relatives have spoken out in recent days, including sister Jinger Duggar and her husband Jeremy Vuolo, who described the allegations as devastating and difficult to process. Cousin Amy Duggar also issued a statement saying she was heartbroken, angry and sickened by the accusations.
Joseph’s arrest stems from allegations involving a child who was reportedly nine years old at the time of the alleged incidents during a family vacation in Florida in 2020. Authorities allege Joseph engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct involving the child, accusations that ultimately led to his arrest in Arkansas before extradition proceedings began.
Investigators have stated that the alleged victim later disclosed the incidents during a forensic interview, leading to a broader investigation. Court documents allege that Joseph admitted to having impure intentions during a conversation with the alleged victim’s father prior to his arrest, although the legal process remains ongoing.
