After more than four years, Prince Harry and Meghan will bring their two children back to England for the first time, amidst unresolved security concerns for the Sussex family.

BBC reported on June 17th that Prince Harry and Meghan will return to England with Prince Archie (7 years old) and Princess Lilibet (5 years old). Next month also marks one year before the Invictus Games officially begin in Birmingham.
This will be the first time in four years that the Duke of Sussex, who currently lives in California, has returned to England with his family.
It is unclear whether King Charles III will meet his two grandchildren during this visit. The King has only met Archie and Lilibet once, on the occasion of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
In an interview with the BBC last year, Prince Harry expressed his desire for “reconciliation” with the British Royal Family.
Last September, Harry met his father at Clarence House in London. This was their first face-to-face meeting since February 2024. The meeting was seen as a first step towards improving their relationship and rebuilding trust, amidst deep-seated conflicts within the British Royal Family.
Prince Harry’s security arrangements were downgraded after he stepped down as a full member of the royal family in 2020 and moved to the US with his family.

Last month, the Duke of Sussex lost a lawsuit in an attempt to reinstate police protection upon his return to the UK. Speaking to the BBC after the ruling, Harry said he could not bring his family back to their homeland because he could not guarantee their safety.
In December 2025, sources told the BBC that access to security measures for Prince Harry upon his return to the UK was being reviewed.

A government spokesperson said today: “The UK government’s security measures are implemented rigorously and on a case-by-case basis. It is our long-standing policy not to provide details of these measures, as this could compromise the integrity of the system and the safety of individuals.”
Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games in London in 2014. The next edition in Birmingham is scheduled to run from July 10 to 17, 2027.
