A tragic police shooting in Mississippi has left a community searching for answers after a 1-year-old boy was killed during an officer-involved incident outside a Walmart in Senatobia.
The child, identified as Kohen Wiley, was inside a vehicle with his mother and another woman when officers responded to a reported shoplifting situation. According to investigators, officers attempted to stop the vehicle after it left the store, and police said the driver moved toward an officer, nearly striking them. An officer then fired at the vehicle, and the child was later pronounced dead after the occupants arrived at a hospital.
The family has questioned the use of force, saying they want transparency and accountability over what happened. Community members have also raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are calling for more information from the investigation.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the incident, while the officer involved has reportedly been placed on administrative leave during the investigation. Authorities have stated that more details will be released as facts are verified.
