A chilling tale has emerged from Georgia, where a couple is facing serious charges in connection with the brutal murder of a beloved bartender. Mario Andre Barber, 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42, were taken into custody on Monday, accused of killing 37-year-old Jamal Parker and disposing of his dismembered body in a lake.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported that investigators discovered Parker’s remains in the Dog River Reservoir, located about 30 miles from Atlanta, on May 15. His father, who was devastated by the loss, played a crucial role in identifying his son through DNA testing, as the tattoos on the remains matched those of Parker.
Parker, known for his vibrant spirit and talent, worked at Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta. Reports suggest that the alleged crime took place in the couple’s upscale home in Douglasville, valued at $640,000. In a 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 turn of events, investigators were seen removing a reciprocating saw and cleaning supplies from the residence in late May.
While the exact relationship between Parker and the accused remains unclear, a GoFundMe campaign set up in his memory indicated that he knew and trusted them. Both Barber and Baker, who have extensive criminal histories, entered not guilty pleas during their court appearance on Tuesday and are currently being held without bail.
Jamal Parker’s father, Charles Parker, expressed his desire for justice outside the courtroom, stating, “I want them to be punished. And I don’t even think a life sentence is good enough.” He described the situation as something one would typically see in a movie, emphasizing the couple’s apparent lack of remorse.

Parker was remembered fondly in the GoFundMe post as a “beautiful soul and spirit,” highlighting his passions for music and art alongside his bartending career. As the investigation continues, many are left wondering what could have led to such a tragic outcome.
