Joseph Duggar and his wife, Kendra Duggar, are facing multiple criminal charges in Arkansas and Florida, adding to the growing legal troubles surrounding the former reality TV family.
According to court records in Arkansas, Joseph, 31, and Kendra, 27, have each been charged with four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment.
Under Arkansas law, both offenses are classified as Class A misdemeanors. If convicted, each charge carries a maximum sentence of up to one year in jail. That means both Joseph and Kendra could face several years behind bars if the sentences were ordered to run consecutively.
Joseph Duggar’s legal situation is significantly more serious in Florida, where he is facing two felony charges tied to allegations involving a child under the age of 12 during a 2020 family vacation in Panama City Beach.
The charges include lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim younger than 12 and lewd and lascivious conduct by a person over 18. Under Florida law, both are considered life felonies — among the most severe criminal charges in the state.
If convicted on the Florida charges, Joseph could face life in prison or a sentence beginning with a mandatory minimum of 25 years, followed by lifetime probation or community control.
Authorities allege Joseph inappropriately touched the child multiple times during the vacation. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Kendra Duggar was released shortly after her arrest after posting a $1,470 bond, while Joseph remained in custody awaiting extradition proceedings connected to the Florida case.
The couple shares four children, the oldest of whom is 7 years old.
Joseph Duggar rose to fame through TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” and later appeared alongside Kendra in the spinoff series “Counting On.”
Court proceedings in both Arkansas and Florida are ongoing.
