California Family of Four Identified in Tragic Murder-Suicide Investigation

Authorities in California have identified a family of four who were found dead inside their home in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide involving a mother, her husband, and their two young children.

 

Family of 4 ID'd After Calif. Murder-SuicideAccording to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Londelius Street in the North Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles on the evening of May 27 after reports of a shooting.

Inside the home, police discovered the bodies of two adults and two children, all suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims were later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Marine Basmajian, 30; her husband Khajag Basmajian, 31; their 2-year-old son Alec Basmajian; and their 6-day-old daughter, Ella Basmajian.

Investigators believe Marine Basmajian fatally shot her husband and both children before turning the gun on herself.

According to the medical examiner’s findings, Marine died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Khajag Basmajian’s death was ruled a homicide, while both children also died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Police said the incident is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide.

A GoFundMe page established to help cover funeral expenses described Khajag as a devoted husband, father, son, and friend who was known for his positive personality and kindness toward others.

The fundraiser also described young Alec as a joyful child who loved toy vehicles and ice cream and had been excited to meet his baby sister, who lived only six days.

“In a single moment, we lost an entire young family who were deeply loved by everyone who knew them,” the page stated.

According to local reports, Khajag worked as a software engineer.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, members of Los Angeles’ volunteer Crisis Response Team joined police and firefighters at the scene to provide emotional support and resources for those affected by the incident.

Authorities have not publicly discussed a possible motive as the investigation continues.
